I recently worked on a commercial and marketing video for the clothing company Spanx. I was the Gaffer on this shoot, so I am not entirely sure what the video is being used for, but based on the size of the production and the gear involved, I would guess it is for a commercial. The Director of Photography was filming with an Arri Alexa, and I brought most of my lighting kit. So, the production value of this project is pretty high.
This was a great shoot. We filmed all over the Spanx headquarters in Buckhead, Atlanta. I had a grip helping me set up and move lights throughout the day. Which is good because we moves around this building a lot. I used my Aputure 600D as our main source and paired it with my 6x6 frame for diffusion and my 4x4 for negative fill. I also used my spotlight attachment to shape the light for certain shots. One of the newer pieces of gear I brought was my Amaran F22x, a flexible mat light. We used it to arm out over a subject in small rooms, creating a nice backlight without taking up too much space.
The crew was amazing, and the shoot went really smoothly. I am looking forward to seeing how the finished video turns out. I will share the link here if it gets posted online.
