I’ve been working as a freelance Director of Photography, Videographer, and Video Producer in Atlanta for the past seven years. One of the main things I like about freelancing is that no two shoots are the same. I’m constantly working on different types of projects with different crews in different places, and that variety keeps things interesting.

Over the years, I’ve worked on a wide range of projects across many industries. Each job gives me a glimpse into a world I probably wouldn’t have seen otherwise. I’ve shot TV commercials, corporate videos from the top floors of Atlanta skyscrapers, and I’ve worked on tons of documentaries as a Director of Photography. I’ve been able to travel across the country and meet some really interesting people, including a few celebrities. It’s an exciting and unpredictable career path.

Another thing I appreciate is that this career always keeps me learning. There’s always a new skill to sharpen or a new goal to chase, whether it’s improving my lighting, dialing in camera movement, or taking on more creative leadership. I’m constantly growing, and that sense of progress makes the work feel meaningful.

I love the fact that working freelance in this industry always gives me something new to strive for. There’s always a bigger project to take on and more room to grow. I’m someone who needs a constant sense of forward momentum in order to feel fulfilled, and this job is great for that.

The freelance life also gives me the flexibility to work on short films and personal projects when I’m not booked, which helps keep the creative side going. It’s a job that allows me to be artistic, stay curious, and still pay the bills. That balance is what makes it work for me, and I’m genuinely grateful I’ve been able to build a career out of it.
