Last fall, I filmed and edited a podcast series for The Transportation Channel. They were looking for a Director of Photography in Atlanta and found me for the project. They were thrilled with the videos I produced. I was told the podcast series made a big impact in the transportation industry and helped generate much more interest in their show. At the bottom of this post, you can see a recommendation from the founder of The Transportation Channel.

The podcast was filmed during a major transportation conference on the floor of the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Over the course of three days, we captured 18 different podcast episodes.

We built a podcast setup right in the middle of the conference floor with four microphones total. One microphone was for the host, and we were able to accommodate up to three guests at a time. I used a three-camera setup to make sure everything was covered properly. One camera stayed locked on the host, one camera panned to capture each guest as they spoke, and a wide camera covered the full table. That wide shot was especially important in the edit because it allowed me to cut seamlessly whenever the guest camera needed to move from one speaker to another.

We did run into a few challenges during production. The biggest issue was that our podcast table had been placed directly beside a loud presentation stage, only about 15 feet away. From an audio standpoint, that is about the worst possible situation for a podcast. I was not involved in that stage of pre-production, or I would have pushed for a different location. The noise created distractions for the guests while they were speaking and, more importantly, had a major impact on the audio quality.

Luckily, I knew I could rely on some of the newer AI audio tools to isolate the voices and clean up the recordings. Without that software, I honestly think the podcast would have been ruined and difficult for anyone to listen to. It definitely created a lot more work in post-production, but in the end it was completely worth it.

Here is the recommendation from The Transportation Channel. "Working with Chris Kimling and his team was an absolute pleasure. They brought professionalism, creativity, and attention to detail to every step of the process. The three-camera shoot for our podcast was flawlessly executed, and the final edits were exceptional, crisp, engaging, and broadcast-quality. Chris and his crew were organized, communicative, and made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. Their ability to capture the energy of our interviews and deliver a polished final product exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Chris Kimling and his team to anyone seeking top-tier video production. They are true professionals who elevate the quality of any project they touch."
