I recently filmed a couple of episodes for the hol+ podcast hosted by Dr. Taz. We recorded inside a studio, and I supplied both the cameras and lighting gear. I really enjoyed working on this project. It was a relaxed, low-pressure environment and I got to listen in on some really interesting conversations.
Projects like this can be a unique challenge because I’m responsible for operating three cameras at once. Each subject has their own dedicated camera, and then there’s a wide shot that captures both of them. Managing all three angles in real time takes a lot of focus and preparation.
Lighting a podcast like this also requires a bit more effort than it might seem. The goal is to make the space feel bright, clean, and professional, and that means using a lot of lights to get the right exposure and eliminate shadows. Even though the setup looks simple, there’s quite a bit of work behind the scenes to make it look polished on camera.
This was a great experience, and I’d be happy to work on more podcast productions like this in the future.
